Dear Kalamazoo Area Runners Members and Friends, We are pleased to announce registration for the 2022 Portage Winter Blast to benefit Susan G. Komen, and the Kalamazoo Area Runners is now open and we hope you will join us for the 11th annual event. Once again, the Half Marathon field size limit will be 1,500. This year’s event is organized by Kalamazoo Area Runners, Susan G. Komen Michigan, and the City of Portage in a community celebration of health and wellness. This event is sponsored by Epredia and Mercantile Bank.
Our race start and finish line will once again be at Loy Norrix High School! The race date this year is Sunday, February 27th, 2022.
Members of Kalamazoo Area Runners (KAR) receive a $10 discount off half-marathon and $5 off 10k/5k pricing. Discount codes are not required to take advantage of this discount – it will be automatically applied when members register using the RunSignUp system.
Join us in this extraordinary community celebration of health and wellness as Kalamazoo Area Runners (KAR), and the City of Portage present the 9th Annual Event. The half marathon, 10k and 5k courses highlight the Portage Trail Way System and include a mix of mostly flat paved bike trail and roads. The half marathon, 10k, and 5k feature USAT&F certified courses. All running events will start and end at Loy Norrix High School, 606 E. Kilgore Rd, Kalamazoo, MI 49001 on Sunday, February 27, 2022.
The half marathon start is at 8:00 am and the 10k start is 8:10 am and the 5k run/walk at 8:20 am. The half marathon will close registration once it attains its cap. The cutoff time to be included in half marathon results is 3 hours, 45 minutes. Roads will be re-opened at 12:00 noon.
Packet pick-up and late registration (PAPERLESS) will be held from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at KELC Events (1417 South Burdick Street, Kalamazoo MI). Race day registration for the 5k, 10k, and half marathon packet pick-up and sponsor expo will be Sunday, February 27, 2022, at Loy Norrix High School in a large tent from 6:30 am – 7:30 am. Race day registration for the half marathon will not be available.
Awards to first place overall open, masters, grandmasters, senior masters, and five year age division awards three deep in all events. Finisher medals to all half marathoners finishing within the time limit. All proceeds will support the Portage Winter Blast Half Marathon, 10k and 5k, Susan G. Komen, and the Kalamazoo Area Runners.
