Kalamazoo Area Runners (KAR) will host an informal 4-mile run/walk on November 15, 2017 in memory of runner and KAR member Theresa Lockhart.  We invite you to join us at 6:00pm (check-in from 5:30 – 6:00pm) at the Portage YMCA (A-frame Building), 2900 W Centre Ave, Portage, MI 49024, as we celebrate her life and love of running.

Theresa was an active KAR member when she disappeared May 18, 2017.  She used to run regularly with the Wednesday Evening KAR Group from Portage YMCA and was a participant in the Kalamazoo Klassic.  On October 24, 2017, five months after her disappearance, it was confirmed by authorities Theresa Lockhart was deceased; a runner and a friend gone too soon of an untimely and tragic death.

The route will consist of a 4-mile loop Theresa often ran with the Wednesday evening group.  The run will take place after dusk and participants are asked to wear reflective clothing and lights and follow all pedestrian traffic signals. The course will not be closed to traffic and runners and walkers will be routed on sidewalks and paved bike trails.  Minors under age 18 must be accompanied at all times by a parent, guardian or other responsible adult with written permission from the parent or guardian.  Dogs must be on a leash.  No bicycles, skateboards or roller blades.

Please park in the Portage YMCA parking lot adjacent to the A-Frame building and outdoor tennis courts.  Parking is also available at First National Bank adjacent to the Y (the drive-thru is open through 6:00pm and needs to remain accessible for bank patrons).

The run is an informal group run and is FREE of charge, however we ask participants to register online prior to the event so that we know how many will be in attendance.  Please join us for this memorial run as we honor and pay tribute to Theresa.
