Call for Fast Track Coaches
Dear Kalamazoo Area Runners (KAR) Members and Friends,
Kalamazoo Area Runners (KAR) is in the process of planning the Summer Fast Track 5k and 10k Training Program in the greater Kalamazoo area.
In order to deliver a quality summer training program, we need your help! We have rewarding opportunities available to share your time, talent, and passion for running by serving as a Fast Track Coach for the 2025 Fast Track 5k and 10k Training Program.
Please note a separate email will be sent to recruit Team Leaders and Track Coaches for the 2024 Summer Beyond Half and Full Marathon Training Program.
Program Information
The 2025 Fast Track 5k and 10k Training Program will run Tuesday evenings at 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm April 22 through June 17 and prepare runners for 5k and 10k races. The Walk-to-Run group will begin at 5:30. We are moving the program to the Spring in order to prepare and target racing the Kalamazoo Klassic 5k and 10k.
Workouts will be held at WMU’s Kanley Track.
We will use a progressive repeating cycle of race pace based workouts (800, mile, 5k, 10k), along with running mechanics work on Tuesdays. New this year, we will add endurance-based workouts on Thursdays (off track) cycling through lactic threshold, tempo, and 15k pace workouts. As a volunteer coach you are wlecome but not required to attend the Thursday workouts. You are welcome, encouraged to do the workouts with your group.
