Mark your calendars — Fast Track is coming back, and it’s bringing the kind of Tuesday nights that make you faster. Presented by Kalamazoo Area Runners, the Fast Track 5K & 10K Training Program meets at WMU’s Kanley Track from 6:00 to 7:30 pm, and it’s built for every level. Whether you’re lining up for your first 5K or chasing a 10K PR, workout volume and interval paces are tailored to your ability, and we break into pace groups so you’re always training alongside people who push you in the best possible way.
The formula is simple and it works: warm up, drill, split into pace groups, then get to work. Across the weeks we cycle through VO2 max intervals at 5K pace, anaerobic work at mile pace, critical velocity at 10K effort, and lactate threshold sessions — the building blocks of speed, plus the confidence to actually use it. The spring session emphasizes turnover and mechanics; by summer we shift toward longer efforts, which makes this a natural runway to the Bronson Run for Children.
So save these tentative dates: Spring Fast Track, April 20 – June 15, and Summer Fast Track, July 27 – September 21. The program is $35 for KAR members, and each session is capped at 50 participants, so plan to claim your spot early — you can join or renew your KAR membership right at registration. We’ll share registration details as soon as they go live. Until then, keep those dates open and keep running.
