Mission and Beneficiary
The purpose of the Kalamazoo Klassic is to promote diversity, community and overall health and well-being while raising funds that benefit individuals with disabilities. Last year, more than 1500 participants took part in this community tradition.
Proceeds benefit MRC Industries, Inc. (www.mrcindustries.org), a local non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization with the mission to encourage and support individuals living with a disability to achieve their fullest potential through employment, skill-building and active community involvement.
MRC serves approximately 600 – 700 people each year with the philosophy that every person is unique, valued and entitled to be treated with respect and dignity. This philosophical framework results in programs and services focused on an individual’s needs, desires, strengths and abilities.
The mission of the Kalamazoo Area Runners (www.kalamazooarearunners.org) is to promote the sport of running as a source of physical, spiritual and social wellness while enhancing the quality of life in the community. Kalamazoo Area Runners (KAR) is the largest running club in the state of Michigan with more than 1,500 members.
